Student Membership
Supporting you at the start of your herbalist journey
Because our student members are an essential part of the future of our profession, we value their participation and aim to support them every step of the way to becoming a professional herbalist. Our students have had access to experienced practicing members for support during their studies, for example to conduct surveys, research and mentoring.
Student Membership fees
Annual membership: £20
Please do not pay any membership or joining fee until your application has been approved.

As a Student Member, you will receive:
- URHP Student Member Certificate
- URHP eHerbalist digital newsletters
- Access to the Members Area of the URHP Website containing useful resources for your studies: ( recordings of URHP seminars and meetings, herbal news and information, updates, and back copies of newsletters)
- Access to Sharing Circle (informal online gathering for all members)
- Access to the URHP WhatsApp herbalist community chat groups for quick responses to your questions
- Up to four hours free mentoring in your first year – post qualification
- Advice and support from our experienced council
- Opportunities to build your skills, confidence, and professional network and references through volunteering and Council participation
- Discounted access to our fabulous and friendly annual Summer Herbal Gathering (in person when possible)
- Updates on current legislation and herbal information from EHTPA, BHMA, MHRA, NIMH etc.
- Access to seminars and information on other CPD opportunities.
- Reduced rates for our annual Summer Gathering and AGM.
- Access to The Herbal Alliance website resources.
- Access to the Members Area of our website containing useful resources for your practice: recordings of URHP seminars and meetings, CPD information and forms, herbal news and information, updates, and back copies of the URHP EHerbalist newsletters
Please note that:
- Student membership of URHP does not indicate professional competence.
- Student members must not refer to their URHP membership in any business marketing or promotional materials, including advertising or promoting a herbal practice.
Student Membership is open to people currently enrolled on a course of professional herbal medicine training, including Western, Ayurvedic and Chinese herbal medicine.
Applications are considered using information about the course, training provider, expected completion date and EHTPA accreditation status.

- Proof of study on an accredited herbal course in Western Herbal Medicine

1. Review the guidance.

3. Submit your supporting documents.
4. Assessment by the Education Committee.
5. Approval and payment.
6. Welcome to the URHP. A Welcome Pack will be sent to you by email.
- Student Membership – still studying.
- New Graduate Membership – recently qualified.
- Qualified Practitioner Membership – fully qualified and practicing.
