Full Qualified Practitioner Membership
Supporting you as you grow your herbal practice
Qualified practising herbalists are, subject to our entry criteria, able to become a Member of the URHP, and join the a friendly professional register of herbalists.
URHP Qualified Practitioner Membership is for trained herbalists who meet our standards of education, clinical practice, professional conduct, and insurance.
Our members practise across a wide range of traditions, including Western Herbal Medicine, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tibetan Medicine, and Unani Tibb.
Annual membership: £140
As a Qualified Practitioner Member, you will receive:
- Professional recognition as a registered URHP herbal practitioner.
- The right to use the URHP member designation and logo (subject to guidelines)
- Use of the registered trademark ‘Herbmark’.
- A profile in the public Find a Herbalist searchable website directory.
- Block insurance with Balens.
- Personal certificate of URHP membership.
- Updates on current legislation and herbal information from BHMA, MHRA, EHTPA, etc.
- Access to The Herbal Alliance website resources.
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities.
- Reduced rates at our annual conference and AGM.
- Access to the Members Area of our website containing useful resources for your practice: recordings of URHP seminars and meetings, CPD information and forms, herbal news and information, updates, and back copies of the URHP EHerbalist newsletters.
- The URHP eHerbalist journal sent digitally 3 times a year.
- Advice and support from our experienced council.
- Professional advice and support, mentoring and networking.
- Invitations to events, webinars, Sharing Circles, and the annual Summer Gathering.
- Opportunities to contribute to the URHP community and develop a range of skills.
You may apply if you have completed suitable professional training in herbal medicine and can demonstrate that you meet URHP standards.
Entry is automatic for students graduating from EHTPA accredited courses and who are willing to sign up to our code of ethics. They also must carry current professional & malpractice indemnity insurance and adhere to CPD requirements.
We welcome applications from graduates of any course meeting EHTPA standards and complete our interview process.
We also consider applicants who, through other routes, can demonstrate from their training, experience, and case studies that they have met these standards.

- To conduct your practice professionally and to high standards to maintain the reputation of herbal medicine.
- To fulfil our CPD requirements.
- To maintain current professional and malpractice indemnity insurance.
- As practitioners, to source herbal medicines from reputable and high standard suppliers.
- To attend our AGMs at least every 3 years.
- To give time and expertise, wherever possible, to support the various aspects of the URHP’s work.

- Evidence of supervised clinical practice
- Current professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- Continuing Professional Development records (where applicable)
- Any additional information requested by the Registrar and Education Committee

Different arrangements may apply to newly qualified practitioners and former URHP Student Members.
Please do not pay any membership or joining fee until your application has been approved.

- Student Membership – still studying.
- New Graduate Membership – recently qualified.
- Qualified Practitioner Membership – fully qualified and practicing.
